Roger Sterling Name-Checks Fiddler on Mad Men

Okay, this happened more than a year ago, but I’m only now catching up on Season 5 of Mad Men. Roger Sterling always gets the best lines, but who would have thought he’d be up enough on his Broadway shows to use them for quips? In episode 9, manufacturers of Manischewitz wine are trying to persuade SCDP to bring their product to a wider market. Roger wants to assess how assimilated they are, so uses the obvious measuring stick. “How Jewish are they?” he asks. “Fiddler on the Roof: audience or cast?”
